THE ATTITUDE OF THE PROPHET
MUHAMMAD PBUH
Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly:
It is proven that ‘Aa’ishah
(may Allaah be pleased with her) said that when describing the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It is mentioned in the lengthy story
about Sa’d ibn Hishaam ibn ‘Aamir,
when he came to Madeenah and went to ‘Aa’ishah
(may Allaah be pleased with her) and asked her about some matters.
He said: I said:
O Mother of the believers, tell me about the character of the Messenger of
Allaah (S). She said: Do you not read the Qur’aan? I said:
Of course. She said: The character of the Prophet of Allaah (S) was the Qur’aan. I wanted to get up and not ask about anything
else until I died… Narrated by Muslim (746).
Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have
mercy on him) said in Sharh Muslim (3/268): What this means is that he acted in
accordance with it, adhering to its limits, following its etiquette, paying
heed to its lessons and parables, pondering its meanings and reciting it properly.
Ibn Rajab said in Jaami’
al-‘Uloom wa’l-Hukam (1/148):
What this means is that he followed its etiquette and
adopted its attitude. Whatever was praised in the Qur'aan, he was pleased with,
and whatever was condemned in the Qur'aan he hated. It says in one report that
she said: His attitude was the Qur’aan, whatever
it was pleased with he was pleased with and whatever it hated he hated.
Al-Munaawi said in Fayd
al-Qadeer (5/170): i.e., whatever
the Qur’aan contained of commands, prohibitions,
promises, warnings, and so on.
Al-Qaadi said: i.e., his attitude embodied everything that was
contained in the Qur’aan. Whatever it regarded as good,
praised or promoted was his attitude, and whatever it regarded as bad and
prohibited, he would avoid. So the Qur’aan described
his character.
One of the rights that the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) has over us – especially
in these days when his noble character is subjected to lies and distortions – is that we should mention some of his noble
characteristics and praiseworthy qualities, so that the world might know that
his is one of the greatest and purest of characters.
Abu Haamid al-Ghazaali (may Allaah have mercy on him)
said in Ihya’ ‘Uloom
al-Deen (2/430-442):
A number of the good qualities
of his character which have been compiled by some of the scholars from the
reports. Then he said:
Then he said: He was the most forbearing of people, the
most courageous of people, the most just of people, the most chaste of people.
His hands never touched the hands of any woman unless he owned her as a slave
or was married to her or was closely related to her by blood (mahram). He was
the most generous of people, who never kept a dinar or a dirham with him
overnight. If he had anything left over and he could not find someone to give
it to before night came, he would not go home until he had donated it to
someone who needed it. He did not take anything from that which Allaah had
bestowed upon him except one year’s supply of the simplest provisions,
dates and barley, giving all of that for the sake of Allaah. He was never asked
for anything but he gave it, then he would go back to his annual supplies and
donate from them to those who needed it more, then he might run out before the
year ended. Among entire creation, it is human beings who have been given the
honour of taking a share from all the divine names of Allah, glory unto Him.
Together with that, the
almighty has endowed human beings with for both right and wrong, a tendency for
both good and evil.
The aim of religion is
therefore to minimize the negatives pertaining to the human ego to the point of
annihilating them and in turn promote spiritual potentialities to their peak.
But for the purpose to be
realized, human beings need an actual example they can take after; an uswatul-hasanah, a quintessential
example.
One of the underlying wisdom
behind the sending of prophets lies in the fact of providing an embodied
example that human beings can follow. Allah, glory unto Him, declares:
:وما ارسلنا من رسول
الا ليطاع باءذن الله
"And We did not send any
messenger but that should be obeyed by
Allah`s permission..."( an-Nisa, 64)
This quality finds its
consummate embodiment in the blessed Prophet (ص), as testified by the almighty
:
لقد كان لكم في رسول الله اسوة حسنة لمن كان
يرجو الله واليوم الاخر وذكرالله كثيرا
“Certainly
you have in the messenger of Allah a quintessential example for him who hopes
in Allah and the latter day remembers Allah much."(al-Ahzab, 21)
No other man, let alone a
prophet, has had the entire details of his life recorded in every minute
detail. Documented moment by moment, the
Blessed prophet`s (ص) every single word, deed and feeling constitutes a plaque
of honour in history. The Quran states:
وانك لعلي خلق عظيم
"And you stand on an exalted
standard of character." (al-Qalam, 4)
It is for no other reason
that the almighty made him begin his
journey of life from the most vulnerable end as orphan, and then proceeded him
through each difficult stage of life until finally elevating him to the peak of
power and authority, as prophet and head of state; in order that people will
find in him the most perfect example of
conduct and in whatever level of social scale.
If you are wealthy, then
ponder the humbleness and the generosity of the great prophet who reigned
sovereign over entire Arabia and won over the hearts of every Arab notable
through love.
hmmm, now muslims compete one
another even in the masjid, they spread their ipads, phones etc infront of them
while praying...is the masjid kejetia or phone shop?
If you are among the weak,
then take reference from the Noble Prophets life in Mecca under the horrible
pressure of oppressive idolators.
If you are triumphant,
reflect on the Prophet courage and submission who routed the enemy at the battles
of Badr and Hunayn...
But, Allah forbid, should you
become defeated then remember the Prophet walking patiently and courageously amid his wounded and
martyred companions at Uhud, having completely yielded to Divine Will.
And if you are a teacher, just
think of the delicate, sensitive and affectionate Prophet conveying the pearls
of his heart to the Students of Suffa by the Masjid`un-Nabawi.
If you are a student, picture
the prophet sitting before Jibriel(a.s) at the moment of Revelation, cautious
and motivated, filled with respect.
If you are a preacher, a
counsellor calling to good, then give ear to the pleasant voice of the prophet
flashing sparks of wisdom from his heart to his companions.
If you are left without an
aid in your desire to protect and communicate the Truth and elevate it, then
take a look at the life of the Prophet who proclaimed the Truth to the
ignorant and called them unto guidance
at a time when he was deprived of all aid in Mecca.
If you are lonely, then
reflect on the son of Abdullah and Aminah, their dearly loved orphan of
innocence.
If you are a teenager,
closely consider the life of the youth, the future Prophet, shepherding the
stock of Abu Talib at Mecca.
If you are a trader set out
with load of goods, ponder the integrity of the grandest man of the convoys destined
for Yemen and Damascus.
If you are a judge, recall
his just and prudential in intervening to replace the black stone at the verge
of the Meccan notables going at each others` throat.
If you are a spouse consider
the deep emotions and compassion of the beloved husband of the beloved Husband
of Khadijah and Aisha.
our sisters don't be selfish
when it comes to adding another wife especially some of our so called Maalamah.
If you have children then
learn the affectionate conduct of the father of Fatima(r.a), the grandfather of
Hasan Husayn.
Pathetically, now we don't
know whether the children of these were really brought up by parents or they
just new android apps.. Yaa Salaam
Whoever you may be and in
whichever circumstance you may find yourself in, you will find Muhammed
Mustafa(ص) as the most perfect model and
most beautiful guide at all times and places.
His unparalleled worth in the
sight of Allah, glory unto Him, leads Him to declare in the Quran:
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَرْفَعُوٓا۟
أَصْوَٰتَكُمْ فَوْقَ صَوْتِ ٱلنَّبِىِّ وَلَا تَجْهَرُوا۟ لَهُۥ بِٱلْقَوْلِ كَجَهْرِ
بَعْضِكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ أَن تَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُونَ
O you who have believed, do not raise
your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the
loudness of some of you to others, lest your deeds become worthless while you
perceive not.
(Hujuraat: 2)
To end with, Eid is around
the corner, lets fear Allah in our celebrations
our ladies fear Allah and
abstain from Brazilian hair, Togo hair etc
stop shaving your eyebrows
and prolonging of your eyelashes. My dear fellow guys lets stop chasing ladies
especially some of the Imams and some preachers..
May Allah make it easy for us
to follow the quintessential examples of his beloved Rasul
May Allah forgive me of what
I've said wrong or the mistakes in this my little shallow presentation since
I'm still struggling in my pursuit of knowledge. We again pray that HE save us
from Riya. Aameen.
