ANAWAWI’S 40 HADITH; HADDITH NUMBER 3

BRIEF EXPLANATION

: عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ  عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا  قَالَ: سَمِعْت رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم يَقُولُ: " بُنِيَ  الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ  وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ  الزَّكَاةِ، وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ".

On the authority of Abdullah, the son of Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, “Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the salah (prayer), paying the zakat (obligatory charity), making the hajj (pilgrimage) to the House, and fasting in Ramadhan.”’ [Al-Bukhari] [Muslim]

Let's try to understand that the minor pillars are necessary for ultimate strength of our religion

And we CANNOT reach the ultimate level of faith and status WITHOUT attaining ultimate strength of our religion

The minor pillars of ISLAM can attain their full strength only on the degree of frequency with which Allah and his Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم

Hence bearing witness that there is no deity worthy of true worship except Allah

And that Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is his servant and messenger is enough to strengthen the pillar of SHAHADAH

fasting thirty compulsory days every year in the month of Ramadan is enough for the full strength of the SAWM pillar

Following the command of Allah تعالى

Fasting is made compulsory upon you as it was to those before you

So that you may attain piety

Looking at the ZAKAT pillars, it makes sense to apply Allah's KADR here

In the sense that Allah is all knowing

He already knows who amongst us will be wealthy enough to embark on them

 Because لا يكلف الله نفساً إلا وسعها

Allah doesn't burden a soul beyond its capacity

Hence the fulfillment of the strength of the afore mentioned pillars is based on weather a person is destined to be rich or not If he is rich then they MUST fulfill them in order to attain their strength and Allah knows best
