Assalaamu alaikum warahmatullah wabarakaatuh
In Shaa Allah we shall be talking bout KNOWLEDGE and
EDUCATION which we all know as essential
ingredients for our existence as Muslims. We shall briefly Discuss them and
also Suggest ways through with we can
acquire the Islamic knowledge even on campus. In Shaa Allah. 🖊🖊
All praise is due to Allaah, Lord of all the worlds. May
peace and blessings be upon the noble Messenger, his family and companions.
Ameen Thuma Ameen.
DID YOU KNOW❓❓
Fellow brothers and sisters! Knowledge and education occupy
a great position in Islaam. It is by knowledge that one increases his rank and
wins valuable treasures. “Allaah will
exalt in degree those of you who believe and those who have been granted
knowledge. And Allaah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.” (Al-Mujaadalah: 11).
The Prophet Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said, “Whoever takes a path in search
for knowledge, Allaah will facilitate for him a path to Paradise.” (Muslim).
Propagating knowledge is an obligation on everyone. It
includes knowledge in all aspects of human life. The Prophet sallallaahu
'alaihi wasallam said, “Seeking
knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.”
(Ibn Maajah).
ARE YOU AWARE🤔
Brothers and in faith! Each nation has goals and interests
to achieve by its education. Nations strive to achieve lofty aspirations and
objectives through their institutes of knowledge and education, the most
prominent of which is inculcating in their growing generations the spirit of
learning, its concepts and types.
An educationist was asked about the future of a nation and
he replied, “Show me its educational system
so that I can tell you about its future.”
Therefore, learning and education, in all aspects, are a
great means for creating a generation that will believe in the principles of
its nation and its values. They are also the vehicles of progress for the
society as a whole.
AGAIN DID YOU KNOW❓❓
In Islaam, knowledge has great objectives that guarantee
happiness for individuals, and peace for societies in this world and the next?.
The Islaamic Ummah, being an Ummah of faith based on a divine message, aims at
implementing Allaah’s law in
this life in all its spheres. There is no wonder then that learning, in all its
forms, becomes a tool for creating generations that will believe in what Islaam
stands for and have faith in the true and pure creed that the message of Islaam
preaches.
Islaam encourages
knowledge and learning and lays emphasis on education, in its capacity, as the
basis and foundation through which correct concepts can be imbibed in men’s hearts about their Lord.
This is because of the effects that those concepts have, like controlling one’s behavior and direction,
which consequently lead to victory and happiness for mankind. Allaah says which
means, “It is only those who have
knowledge among His slaves that fear Allaah.”
(Faatir: 28)
.May Allah grant us
beneficial knowledge. Ameen Thuma Ameen.
In addition, our religion encourages seeking knowledge and
spreading awareness that provides good for individuals and communities and
keeps the life of this world moving in accordance to the will of Allaah.
Therefore, all aspects of knowledge that actualize the
concept of dignity of labor and inculcate sound ideas in the mind that lead to
constructive deeds are some of the goals of Islaam. Islaam aims at producing a
believing generation that ) for its religion and its world, and takes part in
developing its Ummah and society within a framework of noble life full of
honor, dignity and supremacy. The Prophet said, “The strong believer is better than the weak one,
though in both of them there is good.”
We must make these goals be the direction of all our
attentions and let their actualization in the Muslim society be our aim. Become
a youth that will owe its obligation to Islaam firstly and then to his country.
We should try our best to inculcate in our minds true
allegiance and love for Islaam and for the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi
wasallam. Endeavor to let them know the realities of this religion. Learn to
hold fast to Islamic morals and noble conducts in our homes, schools, on the
road, in the marketplace and in all fields of life. Those are our
responsibilities and duties towards the Ummah; and know that, “Every one of you is a shepherd and each one of you
will be held responsible for his flock.”
DID YOU KNOW
Brothers and sisters, The best thing upon which one can
exert his efforts and spend all his money and time, is to seek for the
knowledge of the Book of Allaah; to learn it, reflect upon its meaning and
understand it.?
The Prophet said, “The
best among you is the one that learns the Qur’aan
and then teaches it.” So, direct
our effort to learn the Qur’aan and
memorize it, especially during this age when facilities for it are quite
abundant. If we do that, we will have commendable returns and fulfilling
results. The Prophet said, “Allaah
raises some people with this Book and relegates others by it.”
Let your endeavors be extended also towards teaching and
learning from the Quran, Hadeeths, and prophets noble characters and his
exalted virtues aside our various programs of study, for there is no good in
any education that is devoid of those great concepts and lofty manners.
The Prophet
sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam said, “When
Allaah wants good for someone, He gives him the understanding of the religion.”
Again Allah “Say:
‘Are those who know equal to
those who know not?’ It is only
men of understanding who will remember (i.e. get a lesson from Allah’s Signs and Verses)”
[az-Zumar 39:9].
May Allah bestow upon us the two types of knowledge.
Thus the knowledge of the Deen and the knowledge of this
world. Ameen
(a) How can you
combine the pursuit of Islamic knowledge with his or her studies in college or
university?
1. This can be done by organizing your time and
giving each matter its due share of attention. If college takes up one third of
your time, then give two or three hours to seeking knowledge, and allocate the
rest of the time for your work.
2. Find a branch
of Islamic knowledge that matches the type of knowledge you are studying at
university. You are studying business, but this business needs knowledge of
many Islamic rulings having to do with transactions and buying and selling.
This will help you to combine the two matters, or to contribute to the
development of the Islamic economy or Islamic banking. This is an important
area in which you can serve Islam.
3. You can attain divine help and blessing by asking Allah
for that. How many people there are who have free time but they cannot find
time to seek Islamic knowledge, because they are deprived of divine help. And
how many busy people there are, who are burdened with worldly concerns and
seeking halaal provision, but they find surplus time by the blessing of Allah.
Among the things that bring them divine help and blessings is keeping away from
sin and doing a lot of acts of worship and obedience.
4. Combining the two matters may mean delaying the pursuit
of Islamic knowledge until you finish studying in the college, if college and
work are taking up all your time and effort. In most cases studies finish
within a certain timeframe, whereas the pursuit of Islamic knowledge is
something that may last from the cradle to the grave.
However, I would like to point out: even if you cannot
attain it all, do not give it up altogether. Rather try your best, do what you
are able, and fear Allah as much as you can.🖊🖊🖊
(b) How can you seek
knowledge, and what are the suggested ways for you, when you are short of time?❓❓
1. The pursuit of
knowledge is based on sincerity and acting upon what one learns. So you should
bear this in mind so that Allah might decree divine help and support for you.🖊🖊
2. You should try
to receive knowledge from scholars or seekers of knowledge who are strong in
their knowledge, if you can, because the people of knowledge will save you time
and effort, and will guide you if you drift away from the right path. The
Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The scholars are the heirs of the Prophets.” Narrated by Abu Dawood .🖊🖊🖊
3. Strive hard and
try your best, for this kind of knowledge is heavy and it will not allow you to
take some of it until you give it your all. You should make sure that you have
a proper understanding of what you read and memorize what you learn of short
textbooks that you may find.🖊🖊
4. Keep company
with seekers of knowledge and those who are eager to attain knowledge, for this
companionship will help you to revise and study, and will help you to aspire to
more.🖊🖊🖊
(c) How can you
reconcile between having little time and seeking knowledge?
If your lectures takes up twelve hours and you add to that
effort to seek islamic knowledge, this may be too physically exhausting, so we
advise you to be kind to yourself and seek knowledge little by little. Try to
invest whatever time you can at lectures into listening or reciting your
regular portion of Qur’an, and the
like, in such a way that this will not adversely affect the work that you are
doing and that has been entrusted to you.
BUT REMEMBER IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO SEEK KNOWLEDGE
MAY ALLAH GRANT US BENEFITIAL KNOWLEDGE AMEEN
This the end of my presentation. May Allah forgive our short
comings and may he grant us tomorrow. Wa salaamu alaikum warahmatullah
wabarakaatuh.
