HAJJ
Alhamdulillah!
Alhamdulillah! Alhamdulillah!
All praise and thanks
belongs to Allah
The Lord of creation
Blessings and peace of
Allah be upon our model pattern and leader
The Prophet Muhammad
(SAW)
His household.
His companions and those
who follow his upright guidance till the day of recompense
Alhamdulillah, I've being
tasked to talk on Hajj
Hajj is not a new
institution which Islam introduced in its Shari'a
It's as old as the Holy
Ka'ba itself
Hajj is a one of the fundamental
pillars of Islam
The worship of a life
time
The seal of consummation
The completion of
surrender and the perfection of religion
Hajj is the perfection of
faith since it combines in itself, all the distinctive qualities of Salah,
Sawm, and Zakah
It's an ultimate
sacrifice and a multi-lateral worship
Hajj in itself has
pillars.
And they are as follows :
1.
Ihram
2. Staying in Arafat
3. Tawaf al-IfadaAnd
4.Sa'i
*Let's look at stations
of Ihram
1. ZulHulaif: for Madina
2. Al-juhfa: Syria,
Egypt, Morocco
3. Qaran Al-Manzil: for
Najd
4. Yalamlam: for Yemen
5. Zat'Irq: for Iraq
*Sub-essentilal acts*Of
Haj
They are waajibat
1. Ihram from the Miqa
2. Throwing pebbles
3. Over-night staying at
Muzdalifa
4. Staying at Mina for 2
to 3 nights
5. Tawaf al-wada.
6. Shaving or cutting
Now let's consider hajj and umra in the Quran
Allah, the most Merciful
and great, The Almighty, has immortalised hajj in HIS well guided book, the Quran.
In a single sura called
"hajj."
That's to signify the
influence which Hajj plays.
As a multi-lateral
worship.
In forming the ideal
Muslim personality, psychologically, spiritually and physically
This is also to
commemorate the invitation uttered by Prophet Ibrahim (AS)
Calling people for Hajj
after he finished the restoration of the Ka'ba

Surah Al-Baqara, Verse
158:
إِنَّالصَّفَاوَالْمَرْوَةَمِنشَعَائِرِاللَّهِفَمَنْحَجَّالْبَيْتَأَوِاعْتَمَرَفَلَاجُنَاحَعَلَيْهِأَنيَطَّوَّفَبِهِمَاوَمَنتَطَوَّعَخَيْرًافَإِنَّاللَّهَشَاكِرٌعَلِيمٌ
Surely the Safa and the
Marwa are among the signs appointed by Allah; so whoever makes a pilgrimage to
the House or pays a visit (to it), there is no blame on him if he goes round
them both; and whoever does good spontaneously, then surely Allah is Grateful,
Knowing.
Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 189:
يَسْأَلُونَكَعَنِالْأَهِلَّةِقُلْهِيَمَوَاقِيتُلِلنَّاسِوَالْحَجِّوَلَيْسَالْبِرُّبِأَنتَأْتُواالْبُيُوتَمِنظُهُورِهَاوَلَٰكِنَّالْبِرَّمَنِاتَّقَىٰوَأْتُواالْبُيُوتَمِنْأَبْوَابِهَاوَاتَّقُوااللَّهَلَعَلَّكُمْتُفْلِحُونَ
They ask you concerning
the new moon. Say: They are times appointed for (the benefit of) men, and (for)
the pilgrimage; and it is not righteousness that you should enter the houses at
their backs, but righteousness is this that one should guard (against evil);
and go into the houses by their doors and be careful (of your duty) to Allah,
that you may be successful.
Surah Al-Baqara, Verse
196:
وَأَتِمُّواالْحَجَّوَالْعُمْرَةَلِلَّهِفَإِنْأُحْصِرْتُمْفَمَااسْتَيْسَرَمِنَالْهَدْيِوَلَاتَحْلِقُوارُءُوسَكُمْحَتَّىٰيَبْلُغَالْهَدْيُمَحِلَّهُفَمَنكَانَمِنكُممَّرِيضًاأَوْبِهِأَذًىمِّنرَّأْسِهِفَفِدْيَةٌمِّنصِيَامٍأَوْصَدَقَةٍأَوْنُسُكٍفَإِذَاأَمِنتُمْفَمَنتَمَتَّعَبِالْعُمْرَةِإِلَىالْحَجِّفَمَااسْتَيْسَرَمِنَالْهَدْيِفَمَنلَّمْيَجِدْفَصِيَامُثَلَاثَةِأَيَّامٍفِيالْحَجِّوَسَبْعَةٍإِذَارَجَعْتُمْتِلْكَعَشَرَةٌكَامِلَةٌذَٰلِكَلِمَنلَّمْيَكُنْأَهْلُهُحَاضِرِيالْمَسْجِدِالْحَرَامِوَاتَّقُوااللَّهَوَاعْلَمُواأَنَّاللَّهَشَدِيدُالْعِقَابِ
And accomplish the
pilgrimage and the visit for Allah, but if, you are prevented, (send) whatever
offering is easy to obtain, and do not shave your heads until the offering
reaches its destination; but whoever among you is sick or has an ailment of the
head, he (should effect) a compensation by fasting or alms or sacrificing, then
when you are secure, whoever profits by combining the visit with the pilgrimage
(should take) what offering is easy to obtain; but he who cannot find (any
offering) should fast for three days during the pilgrimage and for seven days
when you return; these (make) ten (days) complete; this is for him whose family
is not present in the Sacred Mosque, and be careful (of your duty) to Allah,
and know that Allah is severe in requiting (evil).
Surah Al-Baqara, Verse
197:
الْحَجُّأَشْهُرٌمَّعْلُومَاتٌفَمَنفَرَضَفِيهِنَّالْحَجَّفَلَارَفَثَوَلَافُسُوقَوَلَاجِدَالَفِيالْحَجِّوَمَاتَفْعَلُوامِنْخَيْرٍيَعْلَمْهُاللَّهُوَتَزَوَّدُوافَإِنَّخَيْرَالزَّادِالتَّقْوَىٰوَاتَّقُونِيَاأُولِيالْأَلْبَابِ
The pilgrimage is
(performed in) the well-known months; so whoever determines the performance of
the pilgrimage therein, there shall be no intercourse nor fornication nor
quarrelling amongst one another; and whatever good you do, Allah knows it; and
make provision, for surely the provision is the guarding of oneself, and be
careful (of your duty) to Me, O men of understanding.
Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse
96:
إِنَّأَوَّلَبَيْتٍوُضِعَلِلنَّاسِلَلَّذِيبِبَكَّةَمُبَارَكًاوَهُدًىلِّلْعَالَمِينَ
Most surely the first
house appointed for men is the one at Bekka, blessed and a guidance for the
nations.SurahAal-e-Imran, Verse 97:
فِيهِآيَاتٌبَيِّنَاتٌمَّقَامُإِبْرَاهِيمَوَمَندَخَلَهُكَانَآمِنًاوَلِلَّهِعَلَىالنَّاسِحِجُّالْبَيْتِمَنِاسْتَطَاعَإِلَيْهِسَبِيلًاوَمَنكَفَرَفَإِنَّاللَّهَغَنِيٌّعَنِالْعَالَمِينَ
In it are clear signs,
the standing place of Ibrahim, and whoever enters it shall be secure, and
pilgrimage to the House is incumbent upon men for the sake of Allah, (upon)
every one who is able to undertake the journey to it; and whoever disbelieves,
then surely Allah is Self-sufficient, above any need of the worlds.
Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 27:
وَأَذِّنفِيالنَّاسِبِالْحَجِّيَأْتُوكَرِجَالًاوَعَلَىٰكُلِّضَامِرٍيَأْتِينَمِنكُلِّفَجٍّعَمِيقٍ
And proclaim among men
the Pilgrimage: they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, coming
from every remote path,
Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 28:
لِّيَشْهَدُوامَنَافِعَلَهُمْوَيَذْكُرُوااسْمَاللَّهِفِيأَيَّامٍمَّعْلُومَاتٍعَلَىٰمَارَزَقَهُممِّنبَهِيمَةِالْأَنْعَامِفَكُلُوامِنْهَاوَأَطْعِمُواالْبَائِسَالْفَقِيرَ
That they may witness
advantages for them and mention the name of Allah during stated days over what
He has given them of the cattle quadrupeds, then eat of them and feed the
distressed one, the needy.Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 29:
ثُمَّلْيَقْضُواتَفَثَهُمْوَلْيُوفُوانُذُورَهُمْوَلْيَطَّوَّفُوابِالْبَيْتِالْعَتِيقِ
Then let them accomplish
their needful acts of shaving and cleansing, and let them fulfil their vows and
let them go round the Ancient House.

Another Hadith reads:
Verily Islam is built on five pillars : testifying that there is no god but
Allah, establishment of Salah, payment Zakka,
fast of Ramadan and performance of Hajj to the house
In another Hadith, the
prophet SAW said: perform the hajj and the umra for they both remove the sins
in the same way as the furnace removes the impurities of gold, silver and iron,
and there is no lesser recompense on a pure and unsustained hajj than paradise
The former Hadith can be
found in Muslim and Ibid
And latter in Ibid
If ones parents are weak
and ain't strong enough for HajjIt can be done on his or her behalf

Prophet (ﷺ)
turned Al-Fadl's face to the other side.
The woman said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!
The obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allah on His
devotees has become due on my father and he is old and weak, and he
cannot sit firm on the Mount; may I
perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (ﷺ)
replied, "Yes, you may." That happened during the Hajj-al-Wida (of the Prophet (ﷺ)

I wish we could look at
the status of Hajj and umra in Islam
Their differences.
Importance and when they
are imposed
But the time is far spent. So
wish we pause here and probably continue latter if Allah permits
