OUR ATTITUDE DURING AND AFTER RAMADHAN
Salaamualaikum dear brethren,
Alhamdulillah,
بسماللهالرحمانالرحيم

Glory be to Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar!
There is no deity worthy of worship except Him alone without a partner. Great
indeed is He and Glory truly is to Him.
We ask for His blessings and Salutations on
our noble master Muhammad S.A.W. His household and companions in totality.
Dear brethren, Allah says in Quran chapter
2 that He has made mandatory upon us
fasting like He did with those before us,
surely we will gain piety.
And truthful indeed are His words. However,
Slaves of Allah, those of you who worshiped Ramadan, note that Ramadan has
passed and promises never to return except another. And those of you who
worshiped Allah, for He is all time
present and forever living.
I warn you and myself to fear His punishment
and I give you glad tidings of His endless Mercy.
The topic before us for discussion is our
attitude after Ramadan.
In a year we have three periods, the period before Ramadan, the Ramadan period and the period after
rather.
In a year we have three periods, the period before Ramadan, the Ramadan period and the period after
Ramadan
Ramadan as we know is the 4th pillar of Islam
and usually it comes with a purpose.
That purpose is well captured in Quran 2:183
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟ كُتِبَعَلَيْكُمُٱلصِّيَامُكَمَاكُتِبَعَلَىٱلَّذِينَمِنقَبْلِكُمْلَعَلَّكُمْتَتَّقُونَ
O you who have believed, decreed upon you is
fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous
The goal of Ramadan as we have seen from the
verse is we may become righteous.
Therefore period before Ramadan becomes the
baseline to aid in measuring the degree of success in goal Allah has set for us
in Ramadan after the entire period of Ramadan.
The goal of Ramadan as we have seen from the
verse is that we "may become righteous".
Therefore period before Ramadan becomes the
baseline to aid in measuring the degree of success in goal Allah has set for us
in Ramadan after the entire period of Ramadan.
Now what is worth noting is that there are
specific activities that features prominently in Ramadan
The number one feature is the fasting
itselself, recitation of Quran and other forms of Zikr, observing frequent
midnight optional prayers
And a general behavior change towards the
worship of Allah in any form.
These behaviors largely the preconditions
that set us into increased righteousness.
These behaviors largely are the preconditions that set us into
increased righteousness.
Beyond that there are types of patience every
fasting Muslim endures in Ramadan
1. Patience in obeying Allah despite the
hunger in fasting.
2. Patience in attaining from sins.
3. Patience in predestination of Allah even
if painful
For a Ramadan that was successful, all the aforementioned mentioned activities
and attributes must continue,In essence the attitude of a true believer after
Ramadan is his attitude in Ramadan. It would be a great act of hypocrisy of
your attitude after Ramadan contravenes your righteous attitudes in Ramadan. The
earlier Muslims spent their entire life after Ramadan praying that Allah accept
their Ramadan fast.
Uman bin Abdul Aziz is said have always
grieved on the day of Eid over the thought of whether his fasting had being accepted
or otherwise.Let your attitude after Ramadan show gratitude to the Almighty
Allah for granting you that special month.
Dear brethren to conclude,
Dear fasting brother or Sister who went
through a month of fasting, look into the lives of our forbearers. How did they
behave at the end of Ramadan, how
saddened they were at the separation of this glorious month. For you in them is
a great lesson. Let the struggles and endurance you went through in the month
of Ramadan create a genuine mark in your life moving forward for the rest of
your life. Ask yourself what did I benefit from Ramadan? And has Ramadan in anyway transmogrified me
in faith, purpose, and behavior? This should be the thought ringing in each
believers mind, it will prevent you from returning to your old bad self.
نسألاللهأنيتقبلمناالصياموالقياموأنيجعلناممنأدركليلةالقدربرحمتهوفضلهوأنيغفرلناماتقدممنالذنوبوالآثاموالحمدللهوالصلاةوالسلامعلىرسولالله.
It is my prayer that Allah count us among
those whose fast and prayer he accepted, May we be part of those who
encountered lailatulqadri in prayer for His mercy and blessings. We pray for
His forgiveness on what eluded us by way of sins in our past.
Our prayer is for Allah to bless the mention
of Muhammad. S.A.W with eternal peace.Aameen.
I will end the session inshaAllah by
entreating brethren to continue the good things they did in Ramadan, I. E
reciting the Quran, doing more
istigfaar, saying salawaat for Prophet
Muhammad, and remember that the lord of Ramadan is ever living and will reward
every soul with what it comes forth with on the day of recompense.
