INSPIRATIONAL
MESSAGE
As-salamualaykum. In shaa Allah we shall
continue our inspirational lectures with verses from Qur'an soon. In
the Name of Allah the Most Gracious the Merciful. The best of Praises and Thanks
belong to Allah the Most High. The Joiner of that which has to be joined and
the Separator of that which has to be separated. May Allah join us to the ones
we have to be joined to in the shortest possible time and separate us from the
evil that taunts us in life. We ask Allah to accept our acts of worship, purify
them and grant us Jannah.
Servants of Allah today we continue with our
inspirational messages using verses from the Qur’an. We ask Allah to grant
us understanding of His noble books and make us implementers of His commands.
As I heard ShaykhBasha say in one of his tafseers, “We are implementers, not
lawmakers.”
Servants of Allah, some weeks ago before the
commencement of Ramadhan, we had a lecture on how to prepare for Ramadhan.
Ramadhan was yet to arrive and in order for us to maximize the benefits or good
we could reap in this noble month we had to prepare very well for it.
If we didn’t prepare well for it,
all we could and could still have gained from this whole month would be
starvation and thirst. May Allah protect us from such.Servants of Allah, the reason I have brought this up is to bring our
minds to the fact that the month of Ramadhan which were preparing for is also a
preparation for something else. The day of qiyamah.
This brings us to the
verse in which Allah the most High said,
“O you who believe, be conscious of Allah and let
every soul look to what it has sent forth for tomorrow. Indeed, Allah is All
Aware of what you do.”
In order translations it says, “fear Allah” and in more accurate
translations it can be given as, “observe piety towards Allah.”
With this verse O servants of Allah, Allah
tells us that we should be very wary of the deeds we commit in this world. The
acts that we undertake in this world shall play the vital role in our success
or failure tomorrow on the day of qiyamah. We should, therefore, take advantage
of this month which is also among the numerous preparations we would make in
this world for the hereafter.
We need to ensure that we do not let any act
of goodness pass us by. Anytime you realize, or it occurs to you, that you
should engage in something that will get you closer to Allah, something that
will add to your scale on the day of judgement, do not brush it off. Do that
deed to the best of your ability and then put all your trust and hope in Allah
the Most.
O servants of Allah, if we do not take
advantage of this opportunity Allah has granted us, this life Allah has granted
us, to seek the pleasure of Allah, to seek the forgiveness of Allah, to seek
the same Jannah which Allah granted Abu Bakr and Umar even before they died, do
you know what will happen?
Allah answers us in the next verse saying, “And do not be like those
who forgot Allah, so He made them forget their own selves. Those are the
defiantly obedient.”
We pray to Allah to protect us from such. If you forget your own selves, then
you have lost your purpose in this life. This is one of the worst things that
could happen to an individual.
As a result of constant negligence of the
worship and remembrance of Allah, you forget the reason why you were created.
This will lead you to an abode which is the worst of destinations.
Servants of Allah, I will like to cajole our
cognitive ability a bit with just a little bit of imagination. Most of us in
this group, if not all, have experienced a tragic event before. I don’t know about the other
regions but a few years ago the residents of Accra were woken up at dawn with
the news of an upcoming earthquake.
We all had to wake up and run to the masjid
because we knew it would not be affected and even if it was affected we will
die in a masjid.
Now let take a dive into the world of
imagination. Just imagine in the situation in which you are asleep and the
suddenly you hear people screaming and also running about. In this situation
you definitely know that something is happening. Something terrible.
So servants of Allah, in a bid to save
yourself from this terrible thing everyone is running from, you jump out of
your bed only to realize that you have lost your sight.
Servants of Allah lets now come back to
reality. What are you going to do in that situation? What do you think will be
your state of mind in such a situation?
Servants of Allah, Allah says, “And whoever turns away
from my remembrance, indeed then for him is a life of hardship, and We shall
gather him on the day of judgement blind”TaHa 124.
This is a very strong a statement and also a
warning from Allah the most High. This is to those of us who are already
striving and struggling not to turn away from the remembrance of Allah.
This statement is again going those of us who
have already turned away from the remembrance of Allah. We don’t try to remind ourselves
of the favors of Allah. Anytime we are approached with a warning or admonishment
from Allah or His Messenger, we turn away from it. We find those who try to
advise us on the path of the Creator to be repulsive. We wish they were never
in our midst.
We fast in the month of Ramadhan yet we still
listen to music and we still lie and backbite. We still commit adultery and
fornication at night. This is all as result of turning away from the
remembrance of Allah the most High.
Allah the exalted says, ‘indeed then for him is
life of hardship.’
this person is going to have a life of hardship. This person will never taste
what we refer to as true and genuine enjoyment. .
Servants of Allah you might be wondering,
here is the case of someone who is always partying, having intimate
relationships with the opposite sex, changing guys or ladies, possessing a lot
of money. How can such a person have a life of hardship? This person has been
engulfed with riches his whole life so how come this person had a life of
hardship.
Let me try to explain to the best of my
ability how such a person will have a difficult life even though he has wealth
and women and all you can think of. Allah the most High says, “Verily, in the
remembrance of Allah does the heart find tranquility”.
A person will never find true happiness, true
enjoyment or tranquility or ease except in the remembrance of Allah.
WaLlahi we see people partying and having sex
and doing all sort of things and waLlahi we can testify based on our
interaction with them and also staying with these sort of people for some time
that they do not actually get happiness or enjoyment from these things. The
only thing they get is a short surge in hormones like adrenaline, testosterone
and the likes. They usually mistake these things for happiness and what they
feel does not even last. In the next moment you see them feeling depressed and
wretched.
After having a life of hardship, a life in
which you never get to taste the sweetness of faith, a life in which you don’t get to taste true
happiness, Allah says, ‘and We shall gather him on the day of judgement
blind’
You have been deprived of a sweet life now
you are going to be deprived of an even better hereafter. What is worse than
this O servants of Allah. You were a
person with sight in this world but in the hereafter you will be resurrected
blind.
From what I said in the beginning of this
lecture you should know by now how it’s going to feel to be resurrected blind on a day in
which husbands will be running from their wives, fathers will be running from
their children. A day on which some people will be turned into the size of ants
and they will be trampled upon.
Servants of Allah due to time factor I will
end here and admonish myself and everyone that we should fear Allah. We should
never in our lives turn away from the remembrance of Allah. A lady in Canada raised
her hand to brush off a statement made by someone concerning what the Prophet
said about her dressing and that was the last movement she made in her life.
O Allah, you have granted us the favor of
meeting the last ten days of this blessed month. Make us beneficiaries of its
favors and blessings and protect us from your anger and punishment. Aameen.
As-SalamuAlaykumWaRahmatuLlahwaBarakatuhu
