HEALTHY LIFE AFTER RAMADAAN
Assalaamualaikumwarahmatullaahiwabarakaatuh brothers and
sisters in eeman. We are much humbled to
be chosen to present on *Life After Ramadan (Healthy Life)
Unfortunately, the administrator never knew we are not
health expects before tying it to our necks. We therefore plead with the ummaah
that we are students seeking for knowledge but accept to present the little we
have learnt in class. We would not be perfect in our presentation so kindly
bear with us and make the necessary corrections if need be.
Jazaakumullaahukhairan._
๐บ We shall be making presentation so clear to the
layman taking into consideration not all of us are science students. Scientific
terms may be explained or left out in order not to confuse us the more. We also
expect questions about what anyone does not understand rather than keeping it
to himself or herself in bewilderment.
๐บ Apart from
the fact that fasting in Ramadan is a spiritual obligation from
AllaahSubhaanahuWa ta aa'laa we have benefitted a lot since fasting in
principle helps to improve our health and prevent us devastating health
conditions.
Few among which are preventing us against cardiovascular
diseases (diseases concerning our hearts) such as arteriosclerosis (blocking
the tubes that supply blood to our body,
stroke, decreasing the pressure on our liver, allowing our digestive
system (system that breaks down food in our body and gets it absorbed into the
bloodstream) and many more health conditions we may not be able to mention
here.
๐บAnother key important benefit we derived from
fasting is that most of the toxic chemicals that accumulated from eating and
the metabolic processes are washed out
๐บ However, after fasting some of us face
complications which mostly is as a result of change in *dieting
patterns (particularly times of eating and introducing new food into our body)
and the quantity of food we consume after fasting.
๐บ Did you ever imagine the reaction of a petrol car
that is mistakenly filled with diesel?
The reaction is as
when you have eaten something for a long time and you are reintroducing it into
your stomach. You may have diarrhea or gastrointestinal disorders(stomach,
intestines).
๐บ Even though there ways one can follow to as one
will be eating more often than in Ramadan, everyone has a way his/her system
works so inasmuch as we advice on a pattern to follow you also have to follow
your instincts because there's no one particular food that fit perfectly for
everybody.
๐บ After our days of fasting, what happens is that
the general quantity of digestive enzymes (proteins that help in breaking down
food) reduce because in principle, less amount of them were needed during the
fasting period since there's no much food to work on. The mucus which is the
lining of the stomach also reduce. So our body need time to re-adjust itself
into the mode it was before fasting.
On the first day after fasting (sallaah day) one needs to
consume more fruit or vegetable drinks because they are rehydrating (putting
water into the body) and rich in nutrients which may have been depleted during
fasting. They are actually a good source of energy.
๐บ Fruits as watermelon, apples, mango, papaya,
banana, avocado etc may be used.
Avoid citrus(orange, lemon etc) and high fibre food
(pineapple) in the first two days of
fasting. Citrus increases the acidity of your stomach and we said earlier that
the walls of the stomach are protected by mucus but the mucus is insufficient
by then so taking citrus may cause discomfort. Pineapple is difficult to digest
as it contains more fibre.
๐บ Unsweetened yoghurt is good to take on the 2nd
day as it helps to introduce into our system with a number of good bacteria and
enzymes to help in the digestion of food.
Start with light foods in the first and second day and
progressing to complex foods. Do away with junk food, fried rice, pizza, and
their family.
๐บ Vegetables and fruits should be continued even as
one starts eating heavy food. Leafy vegetables(lettuce, cabbage, spinach etc)
should be started before other forms such as carrots.
๐บ Grains and legumes (beans family) should be
incorporated in diets, they increase appetite.
๐บ Foods should be chewed well to make ease digestion
by the few enzymes. Did you think the teeth are for decoration?
๐บ Foods should be chewed well to make ease
digestion by the few enzymes. Did you think the teeth are for decoration?
๐บ Unfortunately there are people in our era who
swallow rice๐, it's not good for our health. Let's put a stop to that.
๐บ If you would be honest to yourself, we were
unable to consume the daily requirements of water intake in Ramadan. Dawn water
taking is the poorest!
Several research suggested that the the serious problem
with fasting is dehydration. After Ramadan we therefore have to take in more
water to replace what was lost.
๐บ Do not joke with water in your life.
๐บ The body can go a number of days without food but
I tell you that it's suicidal to go that same number of days without water.
๐บ The fact that it used for most biochemical
Process it should be treated as such!
๐บ Over 70% of our body is made of water. So a small
balance in the water concentration causes problems some of which were migraines
in fasting.
๐บ We have to maintain a healthy eating habit
keeping in mind that fastest helped in cleaning our body of toxins(harmful
substances to the body). Do not immediately fill up with junk foods and
processed meals.
*Make your fast the start of a healthy lifestyle.
๐บ _Do not go on food partying lest you get tempted
to eat more than you need because you were craving for it when you were
fasting. Eat only at intervals and only when you are hungry.
๐บ You might have lost lots of weight you wanted but
you will regain weight if you don't control your dieting patterns.
Your blood vessels were cleaned, do not chock them again
with excessive eating.
๐บ To keep up with a good life after fasting:
1Fasting on
Sunnah fasting days.
2Reduce
your intake of junk foods.
3Take more
fruits and vegetables.
4Control
your eating patterns.
5Drink lots
of water.
๐บ With the above ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝfew
tips we gathered, one can easily switch on from fasting mood into regular
eating habits with little or no complications.
We ask Allaah to increase us in knowledge.
Wassalaamualaikumwarahmatullaahiwabarakaatuh
