PERSONAL HYGIENE AND HYGIENE AMONG THE UMMAH.
Assalaamualaikumwarahmatullaahiwabarakaatuh.
We hope you
you are all doing well at your homes and in an increasing state of eeman. We
pray that Allaah makes ease the affairs of us all.
Allaah says; in the glorious "Truly, Allaah loves
those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves
pure and clean.
In another verse, "In it (mosque) are men who love to
clean and to purify themselves. And Allaah loves those who make themselves
clean and pure." (9:108)
In a hadith the messenger of Allaah said*
"cleanliness is half of faith" ( Sahih Muslim Book 2, Number 432)
The Prophet (SAW)
was reported to have said that had it not been that it would be a burden on my
ummaah I would have ordered them to use a siwaak before every ablution*
(Bukhari 847, Muslim 252).
Naana Aisha (RA) reported that she has never seen a person
as clean as Rasuulullaah
(S.A.W)
It was also narrated by IbnAbass that Rasuulullaah uses
sand to clean his hands after he uses water when he visits nature's call
(Bukhari 272).
You and I have heard so many hadiths about how clean Rasuulullaah (S.A.W) was. He
would always have a good smell in cloth, and mouth before visiting any of his
wives. What a Romantic life.
The importance of cleanliness can be estimated from the
fact that the books📚 of Hadith as well as Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence)
starts with a chapter on cleanliness.
Narrated by Jabir, the messenger of Allaah (S.A.W) never
passed through a place but a person who followed him would now that he had been
there from his lingering scent😍😍.Aisha (RA) was reported to
have said that "The Religion is based on cleanliness"
Brothers👳🏽♀
and Sisters💂🏽 in Eeman the above 👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽
are just a few to buttress the main subject of today in shaaAllaah.
The Subject is centered on *Hygiene* but as said earlier,
hygiene is synonymous to Cleanliness even though they are a bit different.
One need to be clean to arrive at "Personal Hygiene".
Any of us who takes critical care of himself/herself, his
food, his environment(room, doors, windows) etc would have actually save
himself/herself a great deal of healthy living💪🏽.
He/herself
would save himself/herself from a chunk of embarrassment from public and earn a
self respect for tidying up himself or his surrounding. He would also be safe
from pathogenic diseases.
Furthermore, our personal hygiene has a bearing on those
around us😳😳._
How?
You and I would say "If I don't brush my teeth how
does it affectAlhassan? But it does if we don't know. Have you noticed the foul smell coming out of a brothers
mouth when he yawns during Fajr prayers?
We have dumped the siwaak(chewing stick) and we fail to use
the tooth paste to clean before ablution leading us to producing bad smell😡
to those standing shoulder -to-shoulder in a row.
Few among us visit their wives with clean mouth, we go there with all the soupy scented
mouths, onion scented mouths etc, that we want to. Very
embarrassing when you get near and she says "go and brush and come".
A man goes to work and comes home but doesn't want to bath,
he's to be forced by Hajia to go and take bath. Meanwhile that night he wants
to "kill yahuudis". You won't even enjoy it my brother and you would
not let Hajia have the appetite because your mouth scent alone drives her crazy.
We wear jalbaab for weeks without washing, is that too a
fun or it shows piety?
Our socks smell so much so that the one behind us doing
rukuu wants to get up before the Imam, abbaaaabookina.
Have you realized that before my brother?
Look at our
masaajids in the tertiary institution s, check the ladies side and they hang
some hijabs, some are very foul-scented. Nobody is a slave to wash for someone
abi?
A brother passes by
you and the *scent no* can give you a headache or nausea, oooh bro.
Some few ladies also
exhibit this bad odor_ Kaman how ?
Compare Islam to
other believes, we are those that are advantaged to be taught how to wear shirt, wash our cloths,
use the siwaak, cut our fingernails, shave our public hairs, etc. No other
group have got this blessings but we are failing, why?
What has changed?
Our pregnant
wives/mothers/sisters are embarrassed each and every day at labour by midwives
because they leave the public hairs unshaved.
Who does that? Is that a pride?
Our shirts are
comparatively better!!!
How can a gentleman like you wear boxers for a week and
singlet for a week? Meanwhile you change clothes. In reality we need more
boxers and singlets than shirts and trousers.
Our singlets and boxers are more into contact to our body
than our shirts. The shirts lie on the singlets. All dead bodily cells remain
on them, the sweats as well will soaks our boxers and singlets than shirts. So
they need to be changed more often than trousers and shirts.
If you have more trousers and shirts than singlets and
boxers then you are only helping to create foul odour to yourself.
Same is said to our
sisters. You need more brassieres underwear
(pants), more vests than your shirts because of same reason given above.
ladies too because those ladies wear light clothes and would
surely sweat less. *If you have more necklace and ear rings than your
brassieres and pants then sorry you are harming yourself my sister.*
We think
singlets, boxers, pants, vests, brassieres are inside so no one sees but
unfortunately it would lead us tof develop foul smell to disgrace ourselves and
development of germs. That would lead us in developing pathogenic diseases
because places such as armpits, and down there👇🏼👇🏼....our.....our....private
parts🙈🙈 are very good places for the replication of these
microorganisms.
Wash your pants,
boxers daily, and iron them, they need more ironing than our trousers and
shirts. The heat is sufficient to destroy most of the microorganisms except
some few *thermoplilic* (heat loving microorganisms).
About 3 months
ago, a brother was involved in an accident and upon visit he secretly asked us
to go and get him a boxer short because what he's wearing is very dirty and
he's shy that the nurses would insult him. The way we value our outside dress
we should do same with those inner once, that is similar reason why people
appear in labour room without shaving, we think "I have time" but we
don't know when something happens on emergency, you can't dress yourself
then.```🤷🏽♂🤷🏽♂ ```When we visit nature's
call we should use sand as Rasuulullaah (S.A.W) did or soap to clean our hands instead of thinking that the water
alone is sufficient to clean the pathogens. They are indeed stubborn
microorganisms than we think water alone is sufficient.
You would realize that after using our left hand to wash
off with water we use the same left hand to hold the buuta(kettle) thereby
transferring the germs onto it. We rub that same left hand with our right hands👏🏽
then to our mouths.
